Operating in memory of Lindsey Hively

The story of Poptique begins the same way any great story does: with a little girl and a big dream. Growing up, Lindsey Hively and her family loved spending simple evenings snuggled on the couch watching movies, gathered around a big bowl of fresh-popped popcorn. They always made sure to pack their popcorn popper on camping trips and a huge bag of popcorn for the road when they would head north to go snow skiing. 

Once she hit high school Lindsey and her friends would spend many Friday nights sprawled across the living room floor watching scary movies. Shortly after the opening scene they would catch whiffs of butter drifting in from the kitchen followed by the 'POP!' 'POP!' of the first few kernels exploding in the heat. Not long after, her father, Gary Hively, would come parading in with stacks of bowls filled with fluffy kernels of popcorn and an assortment of seasonings to dress their snacks in.

From the time she was young up to her freshman year in college studying entrepreneurship at Indiana University, Lindsey had always felt a desire to create a business of her own. Her dad, a business owner himself, was her biggest inspiration and supporter. They would spend evenings together on the phone discussing potential business ideas when, one day inspiration struck.

During one of their typical phone chats, her dad mentioned he had purchased a popcorn popper from a friend and started researching what it would take to open a gourmet popcorn shop. That idea, a dose of blind determination mixed with a little courage, gave birth to what would later become Poptique Popcorn.

Doors opened on May 5, 2008 and things have been popping ever since!

Despite her passing in April 2015, Lindsey’s legacy lives on through her ever-popping business, her father and current owner, Gary Hively, family and friends, and a dedicated team of popfectionists. Thanks to her entrepreneurial spirit and zest for success, Lindsey’s story still inspires young men and women to follow their dreams and remind people that the best way to live is to LIVE BOLD.
